Health-Related Components of a Nutrition Surveillance System

Abstract

In recent years developing countries have been increasingly concerned with ways to better deal with the food and nutrition problems affecting substantial numbers of their people, particularly those categorized as the most susceptible to the impact of nutritional deficiencies such as mothers and young children. As a. result of a better understanding of the multicausality of nutrition problems, many countries are striving to formulate comprehensive food and nutrition policies and to implement coordinated intersectorial plans and programs as major components of the national development process.
